A computer's registry is a place, or database in a computer where most of the information about the hardware of the computer system is stored.  Information about the software within the computer is also stored there as well as information about the computer users.  Keeping a computer's hard drive clean and running smoothly is a must, but keeping the registry in working order is also a high priority.

Until it comes to the user's attention, a computer's registry goes relatively un-noticed.  Once the computer system becomes bogged down with spyware or broken registry entries, then does the user sometimes clean the registry and become aware of its existence.  If the operating system alerts you to registry errors, it is definitely a good time to repair and or clean your registry.

Sometimes, registries amass errors when information is removed because of corrupted or faulty installation of a program.  These registry errors can also happen when a program is uninstalled, parts of the registry can be removed or deleted from the computer in concurrence with the uninstalled program.  When certain registry errors occur, they may affect how other programs are run.  Luckily for us, there are programs that fix these errors and allow for the registry to be cleaned and repaired.

Find a registry cleaner from a reputable source.  I would not recommend downloading a free one or one from a torrent file as you usually can't get the serial numbers that work, I'd know from experience.  Most of the keygens are viruses or spyware too.
